Local authority investment in the least developed countries: in favor of new generation financing products

This short note was written at the request of Cities Alliance management, who were looking for a way to encourage funders to significantly increase their commitments to local communities. This appeal concluded with a call for the introduction of new generation financial products. The ideas mentioned in this note, particularly those regarding the hybridization of funding sources, were reiterated and developed in the book Financing Africa’s cities, published three years later.
